الصفات في اللغة الانجليزية Adjectives

تدل الصفات (Adjectives) على احد مميزات الشخص أو الشيء , وتصف الصفه احدى  خواص الاسم بشيء من التفصيل , فاذا جاءت الصفه قبل الاسم الذي تصفهُ مباشرة ً تسمى بالنعت الملاصق (attributively) مثل ...
·        Hot coffee. ·        There was no clear evidence. ·        It had been a pleasant evening. ·        Happy children.
·        ولكن يمكن للصفه ايضاً ان تصف الاسم بصوره غير مباشرة عندما تأتي بعد افعال معينه مثل became , be, وعندئذ تسمى الصفه بالنعت الخبري (predicatively) مثل ...
·        The roads are busy. ·        The house was quite. ·        He became angry. ·        I feel cold. ·        Nobody seemed amused. (مُسلي)
·        والصفه شكلها ثابت لايتغير في المفرد والجمع ( بمعنى ان الصفات لا تجمع ) مثل ...
·        We were looking for a good place to camp. ·        The next good place was forty-five miles further on. ·        Good places to fish were hard to find. ·        We found hardly any good places.
·        بعض الصفات ليس لها قاعدة معينه , وانما يكتفى بحفظها كما هي مثل ...

·        ويمكن ان تشتق الصفات من الاسماء مثل (hero-heroic , wind-windy) أو من الافعال مثل (accept-acceptable , attract-attractive) بأضافة بعض اللواحق الى نهايتها كما في الجدول التالي

·        وكذلك يتم اشتقاق الصفات من الافعال , بأضافة البادئة ( a ) الى قبل الفعل كما في الامثلة التالية

تستعمل الكلمات (light , pale , dark , deep , bright) مع الصفات اللونيه عندما يراد التعبير عن شدة اللون وقوته او العكس كما في الامثلة التالية
·        ….. light brown hair. ·        ….. a pale green suit. ·        ….. a dark blue dress. ·        ….. deep red dye. ·        ….. her bright blue eyes.
·        ولكن الكلمات اعلاه لاتستخدم مع اللونين الابيض والاسود .
·        تربط الصفات اللونيه بأضافة (ish) او ( y ) الى نهاية الالوان كما في الامثلة التالية ...
·        Greenish- white flowers. ·        A greeny blue line.
·        الالوان كبقية الصفات , فأنها تاخذ درجة مقارنه وتفضيل , كما في الامثلة التالية ...
·        His face was redder than usual. ·        ….. the bluest sky I have ever seen.
·        هنالك نوع من الصفات يسمى صفات التاكيد (emphasizing adjectives) تستخدم عندما نريد التاكيد على شيء معين اظهار قوته , حيث توضع قبل الاسم وهي عادة تشير الى راي ما لانها تستخدم لأظهار مشاعر قويه اتجاه هذا الشيء ما كما في الامثلة التالي ..

بعض الصفات تكون متبوعه ﺑ that-clause   عندما تشير الى معتقد او مشاعر شخص ما , لان الفاعل في عبارة (that) ليس دائماً هو نفس الفاعل في العبارة الرئيسيه (main-clause) ولذلك يجب تحديده كما في الامثلة التالية ...
